What exactly is included in the $250 launch special?

It does not include a customer-facing website chat widget or training for additional staff.
Is the website chat/widget included in the $250?
No. Adding a simple question box or chat form to your website is an optional extra and is quoted separately or charged at the hourly rate.
How long does the initial setup take?
Usually a half-day once the computer is available and ready (including the short handover and basic training for one person).
Do you come to the premises to do the work?
Yes, the initial setup is normally done on-site.
Is training included?
Yes — a short basic training session for one person is included in the $250 launch special. Training for additional staff or longer/more detailed sessions is charged at the hourly rate ($75/hour).

Are there any ongoing monthly fees?
No monthly fee for the core setup. You only pay for actual AI usage (if using cloud models), which is normally very small for light use, plus any extra work at the hourly rate.
How much will the AI usage actually cost each month?
If we use OpenRouter (cloud models), typical small-business use is usually only a few dollars a month. If we use a fully local model, there is no per-use cost.
What does your hourly rate cover after the initial setup?
Extra changes, adding the website widget, training additional staff, longer training sessions, troubleshooting, or any other work beyond the original install is charged at $75 per hour. Wherever practical I will give you a firm time estimate before starting.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. The $250 launch price and the $75 hourly rate are the main charges. AI usage (when using cloud models) is pay-as-you-go and transparent.
Security & Reliability
How secure is this compared with normal web hosting?
With a Cloudflare Tunnel you get strong external protection (DDoS protection and basic firewall rules) and the machine’s IP stays hidden. Overall security still depends on the computer being kept updated and treated sensibly. It is often comparable to basic shared hosting for external threats, but it is not the same as a fully managed professional host.
How do updates and maintenance work?
We can set up automatic security updates and routine maintenance jobs so the system stays patched with minimal effort. Occasional manual checks are still recommended.
What happens if the old computer is turned off or has problems?
The AI and any website hosted on it will be unavailable until the computer is back online. This is the trade-off of running everything locally on your own hardware.
Does it need to be left switched on all the time?
Yes, if you want the AI and any hosted website to be available continuously.
What the AI Can Do

Yes. We load your business information into the AI so it can answer common questions. A simple form or chat box can be added to your website as an optional extra.
Can I change the answers it gives later (e.g. new hours or prices)?
Yes. The information can be updated when needed.
Can more than one person in the office use it at the same time?
Yes. The web interface can be used by multiple people on your local network.
Does it work if the internet goes down?
If we use cloud models (OpenRouter), an internet connection is required for answers. If we use a fully local model, it can continue to work without internet.
Hardware & Practicalities
What kind of old computer do I need?
Most working desktop or laptop machines from the last 8–10 years with a decent amount of RAM will work. We assess suitability before starting.
What happens if the computer dies or gets replaced later?
The setup can be moved to another suitable machine. This would be charged at the hourly rate.
How much electricity will it use?
Similar to a normal office computer left on. Exact use depends on the machine.
Trust & Limitations
What are the main limitations of this setup?
It is a practical tool for small businesses, not an enterprise system. It does not offer 24/7 uptime guarantees or absolute security guarantees. It relies on your own computer staying powered on and connected.
Who owns the data / conversations?
You own the data. The AI agent and your business information stay on your machine.
- If we use OpenRouter (cloud models): questions are sent securely to the model provider and are not stored by me.
- If we use a fully local model (such as Ollama): nothing leaves your machine at all.
Can you access my system remotely later?
Only if you specifically request and authorise remote help. By default there is no ongoing remote access.
What if I’m not happy with it after it’s installed?
Talk to me as soon as possible. I want you to be satisfied with the work.
